New team members

Welcome Maria, Melissa and Marijn, for next year I'm looking for students whose names start with an N.

Welcome Maria, Melissa and Marijn, for next year I'm looking for students whose names start with an N.

Before we introduce our new members, we would like to take a moment to say goodbye to Sam and Ilias, who have been valuable members of our lab and have made significant contributions to our research. We are grateful for the time, effort and dedication they have put into our lab and we wish them all the best in their future endeavors.

With that said, we are excited to welcome our new members to the lab: Maria, Melissa, Igor and Marijn. We are looking forward to the fresh perspectives and ideas that they will bring to our lab, and we are excited to see the contributions they will make to our research.

Maria

MariaMartijn

Maria wil be working with Martijn on our more clinical study where we compare activated and non-activated human lymphoid tissues and characterize immune activation of Germinal Centers. Ilias set the stage for this project.

Melissa

Melissa

Melissa continues on the project Sam and Lynn have worked on in the past, which deals with complement receptor antigen handoff. We are working to create a relevant in vitro model for antigen transfer so that we can study this phenomenon in more detail.

Marijn

MarijnIgor

Marijn is using mass spectrometry to identify glycans on immune cells under supervision of Igor Sweet, a PhD candidate of the Boons group. N- and O-glycomics techniques are being developed and tested on light-zone and dark-zone germinal center B cells.

We welcome you to our lab and look forward to working with you to uncover new insights into germinal center biology, FDCs, B-cell glycosylation, complement biology and their role in shaping the immune response.

Ilhan, the protein expression expert

For the NWO XS project on EBV I was able to recruit the talented Ilhan Tomris for a few months. Ilhan's extensive experience in viral protein expression aligns perfectly with this project.
